EcoBox & Operation Blue Santa Team Up For Holiday Season

With the holidays fast approaching EcoBox is glad to renew our support of Austin’s own Operation Blue Santa. In past years, EcoBox has donated boxes and packing supplies. In 2007 however, we are pound to announce the expansion of our involvement to that of a donation drop off location. Even better, with your donation of a new, still wrapped toy at one of our three locations you can receive 10% off your retail purchase of moving, packing, and shipping supplies, including our great selection of used moving boxes! This promotion will start on Monday Nov. 25th and runs through Monday Dec. 10th, 2007.

What To Donate:
Based on current trends, toys are needed for the 1-2 year olds & 10-14 year old, boys and girls. Toys that are needed include:

• New, unwrapped toys, books and stuffed animals.
• Sporting goods, building blocks, art supplies, board games.
• Walk-man radios, watches, beauty products.
• If a toy needs batteries, please include them with your item.
• No toy weapons of any kind please!

Each child is provided two toys, a book, a stuffed animal and other stocking stuffers. It is recommend donations be made by Dec. 10th to ensure enough time to sort and package the toys.

Operation Blue Santa has been a program of the Austin Police Department since 1972. This charitable outreach began when two patrol officers realized that some families on the patrol beat would not have gifts or food for their children at Christmas.

What began with gift distributions to 20 families from the back of a patrol car has become a massive effort in partnership with the Austin community, the Texas National Guard, the Austin Fire Department, the Austin Parks and Recreation, Austin Energy and EcoBox among many others.

Each year, Operation Blue Santa serves more than 3,800 families, with 14,000 children in those families receiving gifts. The Austin community is very generous in their support, and EcoBox is proud to help sponsor such a worthy cause!
