Wooden crates have been around since the early 1900’s and have improved only slightly during that time. Wooden crates are typically constructed of plywood and either nailed, screwed, or clamped together. They are notoriously difficult to construct, heavy and expensive, but serve a useful purpose for protecting valuable large items when shipping via motor freight or ocean freight.
Finally, an improvement on the wooden crate has been made and it’s light, easy to assemble and includes an endless array of design capabilities! EcoBox is proud to introduce our customers to Kubox. Kuboxes are comprised of 3ply heavy duty corrugated panels and specially engineered angle boards that can withstand 10,000 pounds of distributed loading. Nylon reinforced plastic hubs join the angle boards to the panels. The corrugated panels are light yet strong and custom printing can be applied to the panels to enhance a customer’s brand (see image below). The Kubox you see below will assemble in less than one minute with no tools required. Kuboxes typically weigh 40 per cent less than wooden pallets, which can translate into lower freight costs.
